Eight Busted in Twin State Theft Ring

ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Law enforcement agencies from across the Twin States make several arrests in a major theft ring.

Itawamba County investigators tell WCBI eight people were busted for stealing several ATVs, then trading the vehicles for drugs or cash.

Justin Wilson, of Tremont, is being charged with grand larceny in both Mississippi and Alabama.

Dwayne Tomlin, of Tremont, is also charged with grand larceny in the Magnolia State.

Bobby Leach, of Smithville, Jamie Wayne Leach, of Smithville, and James Dylan Brown, of Mantachie, are all charged with grand larceny.

Christopher Brown, of Fulton, is charged with grand larceny.

He was on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

In the roundup, investigators say they also found two convicted felons running with the theft ring.

Pat Brown, of Mantachie, and Melissa Sweat, of Golden, plus all of the other suspects, are being held in the Itawamba County jail.

Some of them are waiting to be brought back to Alabama.

Agencies from Itawamba and Monroe counties, plus Franklin and Marion counties in Alabama, were involved in the theft investigation.
