Video: Fallen Tree Creates Large Columbus Power Outage

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A dead tree fell on a power line during the hottest time of the day, creating a large power outage in Columbus on Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic lights along Highway 45 from 18th Avenue to Spivey Road were not working during the outage, along with 5th Street North.

Law enforcement helped direct the congested traffic.

Columbus Light and Water General Manager Todd Gale says the tree hit a line on Deer Run.

Power was restored for most areas in less than an hour.
