HAMILTON, Miss. (WCBI)– With the temperature in the low 90’s and the heat index approaching 100, conditions can become dangerous for football players starting practice.

Coaches say they are urging their players to stay hydrated.

Hamilton High School Head Football Coach Josh Baty says getting and early start also helps out a lot.

“It helps because we have morning workouts. You try and get them here as early as we can so the heat is not really a factor, but they’re handling it well. You know we preach to them drinking water, drinking water, drinking water and the biggest thing they have to be wheeling to take care of themselves,” said Head Football Coach Josh Baty.

The High School Football Season starts August 21st.
