Former Students Indicted For Attempting To Join ISIL

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — The two former Mississippi State students arrested in early August for attempting to flee to Syria and join ISIL are now facing federal indictments in the case.
Muhammed Dakhlalla and Jaelyn Young each face a two count federal indictment in the case. The first count charges both with conspiring to provide material support to a foreign Terrorist Organization. Each are then named individually with attempting to provide support to a terrorist organization. Both were arrested August 8th at Golden Triangle Regional airport as they attempted to board a flight which would have eventually led them to Turkey. That’s where the pair planned to cross into Syria and join ISIL. Dakhlalla and Young have both entered not guilty pleas in the case. A trial date of October 26th is set in the case but that is likely to be delayed as attorneys start to file motions in the case.
