Houston Tourism Tax Vote Totals

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – The Tourism Tax initiative in Houston failed by three votes.

Affidavit ballots made the difference in the vote.

Official totals show 335 vote for the measure and 229 voted against.

A 60% majority was needed for the tax to become official.

City leaders say the money generate from the tax would have gone to parks and recreation programs, tourism, and improvements to the Tanglefoot Trail.
