Inmate Dies in Lee County Jail

TUPELO, Miss. ( WCBI) – An inmate passed away Wednesday morning after being sent to the hospital.

Charles Cobb of Tupelo was arrested on July 2nd on multiple misdemeanor charges. Cobb complained of pains in his abdominal area and was sent to the hospital on July 7th, where he later passed away. Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says the death was not caused by any physical altercation while Cobb was in the custody of the Tupelo Police Department.

The body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation will investigate Cobb’s death.
