COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – KiOR’s short run in Columbus is coming to an end.

Golden Triangle Development LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins says the property for the failed biofuels maker was on the tax sale Monday.

However, the Lowndes County Port Authority board has a $1 option on the land on January 1, 2016.

That’s because the property has sat idle for two years, which was a clause in the deed to the 25 acers of land.

In the meantime, equipment at the site on “The Island” will be auctioned off over the next several months.

Monday was the last day people hired by the receiver the state assigned will work at the property.
