LCSO Makes Several Arrests

LOWNDES CO., Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – On Wednesday March 2, 2016 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit and Warrants Division executed a search warrant at Stringer Manor Apartments located at 156 Applewood Drive apartment 15. A search of the residence yielded over one kilogram of marijuana, over one half ounce of cocaine, and U.S. currency.

Terrica Weatherspoon, 31, of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and trafficking marijuana. Weatherspoon was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where she will await an initial appearance for a bond to be set.

On Wednesday March 2, 2016 deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on East Gate Road in Lowndes County. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana. Agents with the Lowndes County Narcotics Unit were notified and took over the investigation.

Landon Williams, 21, of Vernon was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana in a correctional facility. Williams was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he was booked and will remain there until a bond can be set.

On Wednesday March 2, 2016 Agents with the Lowndes County Narcotics Unit and Warrants Division conducted a traffic stop on South Lehmberg Road near William Roberts Road. The driver did not stop immediately and traveled almost one mile before pulling over. A search of the vehicle resulted in agents finding where the driver, Eric Brooks, was pouring suspected cocaine in a beer bottle in order to destroy it.

Eric Brooks, 33, of Columbus was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence. Brooks was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he will await a bond hearing.

On Friday March 4, 2016 deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department approached Daniel Garrard in the Walmart parking lot located at 1913 Highway 45 North in Columbus. After a brief investigation syringes and methamphetamine were found on Garrard. Garrard also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit were notified and took over the investigation.

Daniel Garrard, 31, of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. Garrard was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he will await an initial appearance for a bond to be set.

On Friday March 4, 2016 deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Plymouth Bluff Access Road and Old West Point Road. The deputy could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After a brief investigation and a search of the vehicle, marijuana and vyvanse pills were found. Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit were notified and took over the investigation.

Tristan Wilson, 20, of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and possession of a schedule II controlled substance Vyvanse. Wilson was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he will await an initial appearance for a bond to be set.

On Saturday March 5, 2016 deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Military Road in Lowndes County. After a brief investigation a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of over one ounce of marijuana. Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit were notified and took over the investigation.

Montavis Truelove, 32, of Caledonia was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana more than one ounce. Truelove was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he will await a bond hearing.

On Saturday March 5, 2016 deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Military Road and Jess Lyons Road. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of marijuana, methamphetamine, and a firearm. Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit were notified and took over the investigation.

Kayla Taylor, 25, of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. Taylor was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where she will await a bond hearing.

McKinley Fields, 35, of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Fields was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he will await a bond hearing.
