COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Some of the area’s top teachers are being honored for their work.

On Thursday, four of them were inducted into the Mississippi Hall of Master Teachers.

Mississippi University for Women recognizes educators who are exceptional at teaching, and dedicated to student learning.

Thursday’s new inductees say they’re honored to be part of such a prestigious group.

“I want to be the teacher that I want for my own children, and I love my children, and so I want that same passion and love for other children,” said Tritina Siddell, Thomas Street Elementary.

“I think those two things go together, a love that comes from growing up in that profession,”said Terrie Gooch, Franklin Elementary.

The Hall of Master Teachers was created in 1991.
