Lowndes Supervisor Helps In Suspect’s Arrest

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A man is charged with possession of stolen property, and it was a Lowndes County supervisor who helped capture him.

James Beasley was expected to make a court appearance Wednesday.

Columbus police say Beasley was being pulled over by Lowndes County deputies on Jess Lyons Road on Tuesday.

He jumped out of the car, which was reported stole in Columbus on September fifth.

Lowndes County Supervisor Harry Sanders says he saw a guy on his property and asked him what he was doing.

Beasley told Sanders he was looking for some gas. Sanders thought it was suspicious but offered Beasley a ride.

Sanders happened to see a deputy and pulled over, that’s when Beasley was arrested.
