Main Street-Columbus Turns 30

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Main Street-Columbus is celebrating a big anniversary.

The organization turned 30 on Monday, and many of its former directors – along with downtown merchants – were on hand for the celebration.

Workers say they have a lot to be proud of.

“With upper floor housing, we showed other communities over and over again how to do that, and how to get people to invest in their downtown, and now we are completely full,” said Jan Miller, Main Street-Columbus director. “We’ve got a great retail mix, and we’ve got a lot of people living, shopping, and playing downtown.”

Miller says they’re also proud of starting the Market Street Festival, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.
