Man Charged With Beating Woman in Face, Taking Her Purse

COLUMBUS, Miss. (Police Press relkease) — On March 2, 2015 at 5:34 p.m., a Columbus resident reported being robbed outside a business on Hwy 45 North in Columbus.

The 64-year-old female victim stated the suspect approached her and demanded her money and purse. When the victim held on to her purse,  the suspect attempted to pull it from her hands.  The suspect then started hitting her in the face until she let go of the purse.

The suspect left the area in a green vehicle.

The victim was transported to Baptist Memorial hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

No weapon was used in the robbery.

At 5:55 p.m. on that same day, a 3rd Avenue South resident reported a green Nissan Altima stolen from his residence.  Investigators suspected this car was used in the previous robbery.

On March th, a suspect was identified in the theft of the vehicle and was also identified as the person who committed the robbery on March 2.   The suspect, Karlo Lane, was charged on March 8 with Robbery:

Charged with: Robbery

Bond was set by Municipal Court Judge Clinkscale at $250,000.
