COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A 29-year-old Columbus man is returning to prison for 10 years.

Marshall Burgin pleaded guilty Tuesday in Lowndes County Circuit Court to the reduced charge of manslaughter in the April 20, 2010 shooting death of 20-year-old Quentin Spencer inside the now-closed Everyday Lounge on 7th Avenue North in Columbus.

The shooting was the result of an argument over a woman.

Burgin and two other people also were injured in the gunfire inside the crowded club.

Burgin originally was charged with murder but a Lowndes County judge accepted the reduced charge  as part of a plea agreement and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

Burgin’s probation on a previous burglary conviction was revoked after the shooting and he was released from prison on that charge back in June.
