Miss. Announces September Employment Figures

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — Two area counties traditionally plagued by unemployment saw slight improvement in their jobs picture.

New state numbers show employment was up in Clay and Noxubee counties in September compared to the previous year.

But even with the gains, the two counties still had the state’s highest unemployment rates.

Overall, non-farm employment in the state was up more than 14,000 jobs over the year, but overall employment was down more than 18,000.

Across the region, the number of people working was up in nine of 24 counties from September 2013.
