Monroe Suspects Caught In West Virginia

MONROE COUNTY, Miss.(WCBI) – Two people wanted in connection with a Monroe County burglary waive extradition back to Mississippi.

The duo was arrested in New Martinsville, West Virginia this morning.

Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says Ethan Stanford and Willie Stafford were first spotted in Ohio.

New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil tells WCBI his officers received a tip the duo was staying in a hotel in that town.

Police raided the hotel room early this morning.

More than $4,700 was seized, along with a stolen handgun.

Cecil tells us the gun was within Stafford’s reach.

The duo was wanted in connection with Smithville area burglary, where thousands of dollars were taken from a home.

They are expected to be brought back to Mississippi this weekend.
