Video: New Post Office Opens in North Mississippi

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Lowndes County residents have a new place to send out mail.

A grand opening was held Thursday for a new village post office.

This one is at the 82 Country convenience store, located along Highway 182 East.

VPOs offer popular products and services, like P.O. boxes, envelopes, and stamps.

“Kind’ve reach the people in the rural area, so although we have post offices on Bluecutt, one downtown, and at Fair Lane, it gives an opportunity for people in the rural area, this area, to come in and buy their stamps, mail their packages, without actually having to go to an office,” said postmaster Reba Jenkins.

This is the eighth VPO for Mississippi.
