North Alabama Authorities Looking For Possible Crash
CHEROKEE, Ala. (AP) – Searchers are looking for signs of an aircraft that reportedly went down in north Alabama.
The search Monday afternoon centered on a wooded area just north of the Tennessee River near Cherokee.
Cherokee Police Chief Jason Williamson says a witness reported seeing a helicopter flying low near the Natchez Trace Parkway, then hearing sounds of a possible crash.
Other reports indicated a small airplane might have gone down.
Colbert County emergency management director Mike Melton says it’s unclear where the flight might have originated.
