Update: One Killed In Calhoun County Home Invasion

PITTSBORO, Miss. (WCBI) – One person is dead, a suspect is shot and another is on the run.

Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan says deputies were called to a home on Private Road 2001, near Pittsboro, about 1:15 AM on Tuesday for a home invasion.

Pollan says two men were at home at the time.  Kenneth Patterson, Jr. was shot and killed. The other occupant was not injured.

Investigators say one of the suspects was shot in the side. He drove himself to the hospital and was later airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center. The unidentified man is listed in critical condition.

Pollan says deputies and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are searching for a second suspect.

Deputies are still trying to determine why the house was targeted.
