Oxford Bike Lanes Almost Ready To Roll

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – Oxford officials say the city’s new bike lanes are nearly complete.

Construction began in May of 2012 for 11 miles of new bike lanes on several of Oxford’s main roads.

Assistant city engineer Renna Mayoral tells the Oxford Eagle (http://bit.ly/p2p8XY ) that the lanes themselves are done. She says what’s left is some finishing work, road cleanup and striping.

Mayoral says engineers have walked several routes with the contractor and given him a list of things to do before the city accepts the project as completed.

A grant from the Mississippi Department of Transportation paid for the Pathways Bike Paths project.

David Carroll, owner of D. Carroll Construction, says his crews are working now to complete everything for final inspection.
