Oxford Details Game Day Traffic Plans

PRESS RELEASE
OXFORD, MISS – A message from the Oxford Police Department:
We are looking forward to hosting UT Martin fans this weekend along with our
regular game day visitors. To ensure that everyone has a fun and safe time
celebrating we will have an increased presence in and around the downtown
Square Area. Our goal is to be proactive in preventing any disturbances or unsafe
activities, and as always do not hesitate to contact us should the need arise.
And a word on game day traffic regarding West Jackson Avenue:
After the Game: All traffic traveling Eastbound or Westbound on West Jackson
Avenue will only be allowed to make right turns at intersections, no one will be
allowed to make a left turn crossing traffic. This will ensure the most efficient
exit from the center of the city.
We encourage West bound traffic on West Jackson Avenue to exit onto
Anderson Rd. if you are planning to go West towards Batesville on Highway 6.
Those wanting to ultimately go East on Highway 6 towards Highway 7 are
encouraged to stay in the left lane until passing Anderson Rd.
We are working with MDOT who will be electronically monitoring the
Highway 6 and Jackson Ave. intersection. Please be patient as we trust MDOT to
use their technology for optimum traffic flow.
Fixed routes will continue until traffic is flowing freely.
