Oxford Police Make Prostitution Arrests

PRESS RELEASE

On December 30th 2015 the Oxford Police Department Investigations Division, the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigations worked together on a Prostitution / Sex Trafficking Operation. They were able to make 2 arrests for Promoting Prostitution and identify a possible victim of sex trafficking.

MURPHY

also of Memphis, TN were arrested for Promoting Prostitution. These individuals were identified from a previous investigation a few weeks earlier where hotel staff reported suspicious activity and possible prostitution coming from their room. Once officers investigated they made arrests for narcotics possession and one person was reported missing out of Memphis, she was returned to her family. Officers believed that these individuals were prostituting out of the hotel room but were unable to prove so. The week of December 30th these same individuals posted ads on the internet and officers were able to set up an operation at which time they were able to identify that these people were indeed working as prostitutes. Fields was taken before Judge McLarty for her Initial Appearance her bond was set at $10,000.00. Murphy was taken before Judge McLarty for her Initial Appearance and her bond was revoked due to her currently being out on another felony bond in Lafayette County, MS.
