Oxford Student Second in Geography Bee

OXFORD, Miss. (Press release) — Oxford Intermediate School sixth grader Edmund Doerksen won second place overall in the 2015 Mississippi National Geographic State Bee, sponsored by Google and

Plum Creek, on Friday, March 27. He was one of 56 Mississippi students who competed in the

state-level competition in Pearl, Mississippi.

When asked what his plans are now that the competition is over, Doerksen said, “I plan to

continue to study so that I can compete in next year’s school Geographic Bee competition.”

Doerksen is the son of Yu-Chu Chen and Dr. Robert Doerksen.
