PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — A local 4-H group is putting on a play called, “To Kiss A Frog”.

Although the play is meant to be a fun experience for the group, the message they are trying to get across aims to defeat an ugly aspect of society.

“To stop bullying”, says Sara Martin, who acts as “The Witch in the play, “…to not be a bully and if you see someone who is being a bully to be a friend and tell an adult, tell somebody they trust and always be there for that person because its not fun.”

Anna Sauerwein, who acts as “The Princess” in the play, offered a similar statement regarding the performance’s purpose.

“It hurts other people’s feelings and it doesn’t do any good to that person that’s bullying either.”

While these actors and actresses are taking this issue head on, they’re looking forward to being role models for kids around the nation.

The “To Kiss a Frog” crew will be traveling to Washington, D.C. on June 8th and will perform at some schools in the area. The group will also be traveling to New York and performing the play in Central Park.

Martin also said she enjoys the thought of being a role model to younger children.

“It’s like a teacher once told me, its like Disneyland to them”, says Martin,”…we go out there, we talk to them and it’s always interesting to see their reactions you know they see the person that’s being bullied or they see their favorite character and they just run up to them…”

But through the whole experience, the work, and the message they look to convey, Sauerwein says they just want to “…have fun in doing what we’re doing on the stage.”
