Special Elections Held in Noxubee, Union Counties

By Steve Rogers

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Voters in two counties will go to the polls Tuesday to fill vacant elected positions.

In Noxubee County, voters will pick between Shirley Moore Blakely and Tim McGowan for the vacant Justice Court South judgeship. The position was left open when Dirk Dickson stepped down this summer to run for Circuit Court Clerk. McGowan is Macon City Judge and Blakely is a former Shuqualak police officer and National Certified Court Clerk.

In Union County, voters will decide between Rob Anderson and Pam Boman for coroner. They were the top two vote getters in a 13-person special election three weeks ago. The seat was vacated when Mark Golding resigned earlier this year under pressure from a theft investigation.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in both counties.
