STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Some out-of-state students are spending their spring break in Starkville, giving back.

Notre Dame Prep is one of three schools participating in the Collegiate Challenge Program, where students spend their week off of school, building a home for a Starkville family in need.

16 girls – all high school seniors – made the trip this year.

This is the school’s 24th year participating in the program.

“I think coming down here, what I was expecting to get out of it, was just meeting new people, but I think the satisfaction of knowing that we are coming down here to help somebody that doesn’t have this opportunity very often, it makes me happy to see we are building a house that they are going to live in. It makes me excited,” said volunteer Ella Ogundare.

Notre Dame Prep students will be here until Friday.
