Tupelo Church Helps Families with School Supplies

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A Tupelo church partners with two ministries to help hundreds of families who need school supplies for their kids, and help with groceries.

Kenneth Copeland Ministries helped supply backpacks filled with school supplies, and “Feed the Children” gave away boxes of food at Faith Bible Church.

More than a thousand people showed up for the school supplies and food.

There was also games for the kids and hot dogs, chips and drinks.

The community wide outreach was planned shortly after the April 28th tornado tore through parts of Tupelo and Lee County.

Organizers say it is a way for the church to put its faith in action.

“I think the storm affected a lot of God’s children so this is a way that He actually gives back to us by people helping people so we’re super excited about it and real excited about what God is doing,” said Pastor Anthony Hatch, Faith Bible Church.

“What’s awesome is we come into an area and help our local churches get moving with outreach, and it’s just a blessing to see all these families helped,” said Pastor Riley Stephenson, Kenneth Copeland Ministries.

Pastor Hatch says his church plans to make the back to school outreach an annual event for the area.
