TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Mr. T. made the mohawk popular in the 1980’s.  The haircut is making a comeback for a Tupelo school administrator.

Monday Lawndale assistant principal Ian Shumpert got the cut at school.

It was all part of a challenge to the student body to achieve 95% attendance during testing. If they succeeded, Shumpert agreed to have his hair cut in the style the students chose.

After getting 98% percent attendance, the students voted to have his hair cut in a mowhawk.

Shumpert’s personal barber came to the school to do the honors.
