Union Co. Candidate Back on Ballot
By Joey Barnes
UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Union County Schools Superintendent candidate was kicked off the ballot.
Now, he’s back on for the November election.
Republican Roger Browning argued in Circuit Court that a federal judge’s ruling could not trump state law.
Browning was disqualified as a candidate after the August primary and learning his address fell in the New Albany Municipal Separate School District.
The county election commission used a 2003 judgment that said residents in the New Albany School District could not vote in elections or be a candidate for the Union County top educator position.
A Union County judge disagreed and has ordered Browning to be on the General Election ballot.
