University Community Reminded of Traffic Changes

STARKVILLE, Miss. (Press Release) — As the volume of campus traffic increases dramatically with the Jan. 12 start of spring semester classes, Mississippi State officials are reminding members of the university and local communities to exercise caution and follow all parking and traffic rules.

Jeremiah Dumas, director of parking, transit and sustainability, said one significant traffic-flow change has taken place behind Allen Hall. The change is due to increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic resulting from the addition of Oak, Moseley and Magnolia residence halls along Magruder Street on the campus’ south side, he explained.

“New stop signs on President’s Circle were installed to increase pedestrian safety in a highly congested area with high volumes of pedestrian crossings,” he said.

“Even with the addition of the stop signs, we want to remind all pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists to focus on safety and follow all campus traffic and parking regulations,” he added.
