Video: Aberdeen Youth Indulge in Summer of Fun During Camp

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — A summer camp in Aberdeen is keeping local youth entertained.

Children are being treated to a summer of fun as they dabble in a handful of entertaining exercises and projects.

The arts and crafts camp is a welcome atmosphere after students spend some of their last days in school studying and taking tests.

Camp Director Margie Clay said it was important children have an opportunity to get out and have fun over the summer break.

“It’s just an important program for the youth to have during the summer,” Clay said. “One of the reasons we wanted to change it this year is because so much time was given this year, especially within the school system with the youth doing the MAP testing, and so much different testing until we wanted to kind of give them a break from that, just to kind of give them a chance to have some straight fun. And that’s what they have been doing all this summer.”

Clay said there are up to 70 children in attendance each day.
