COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Part of a year-old mural depicting part of Columbus’ history will have to be redone.

Mississippi University for Women Art Professor Alex Stelio-Wills spent this morning removing part of the Catfish Alley mural after vandals ruined it with paint 10 days ago.

The mural was completed one year ago by Stelios-Wills and some of his MUW students.

The vandals apparently filled a Bud Light bottle with white paint and smashed it against part of the mural. Stelios-Wills tried to remove the paint from the original art, but was unable to.

The mural will have to be removed and redone.

Anyone with information on the vandals is asked to contact Columbus police.
