TUPELO, Miss. – (WCBI) The Tupelo Convention and Vistor’s Bureau unveils its latest historical marker. Community members gathered at Robins Field, on North Madison Street this afternoon.

Following a brief ceremony, the marker was added to the Civil Rights Heritage Trail.

“They bring black history to us.. Bring us back old memories in things we used to do because when we were small and all of the older players were playing, we used to watch them play and as they moved about then we took their place at Carver School and we had the blue and gold uniform and we were crazy about it and we just loved them,” says Carver High School Alumni Nathaniel Stone.

It is all part of the CVB’s Heritage Trails Enrichment program, designed to enrich, restore and preserve Lee County and Tupelo’s history.
