CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The Clay County misdemeanor drug court could soon be back in service.

County supervisors are mulling the possibility of continuing funding for the court in light of a new financial route.

Drug court funding had been slashed from the county budget in June due to lack of revenue available to commit to the $50,000 matching state grant it normally applies for.

However, per an amendment by the Mississippi Administrative Office of Courts, the county can now use participant fees from the drug court to help fund the 50-50 match grant.

Supervisors are expected to resume discussions at their next board meeting tomorrow.
