MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – At least one local sheriff believes drug dealers are moving away from selling marijuana and pills to a fierce form of methamphetamine. Ice, a purified form of meth, is dangerous highly addictive.

Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says his department deals with ice arrests on almost a daily basis, but adds his deputies are working to get the dangerous drug off the streets.

“You get after the drug dealer, you stay after him, you be consistently sending him a message, he’s not selling drugs in Monroe County without consequences. That’s one reason our county has gotten much safer because we are after the drug dealers.”

Ice has serious side effects and is one of the hardest drug addictions to treat.
