Video: Important Dates for Upcoming Elections

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – At least five of the 13 announced candidates for the open District 1 congressional seat have now actually qualified. That means voters need to start paying attention to some important dates before the May 12th special election. The last day to qualify to vote in the election is April 12th. Absentee voting probably won’t start until the first full week in April but people who vote absentee by mail can start requesting ballots next week. Circuit Court clerks throughout the region with be open on Saturdays May 2nd and 9th for absentee voting. The election will fill the remaining 20 months on the seat held by the late Alan Nunnelee.
