STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Federal Judge Mike Mills signs off on the new desegregation plan by the Starkville Oktibbeha County school district.

The work was needed after the Department of Justice determined the racial balance at East Elementary was out of line.

East will close and other schools in the district will be revamped to absorb those students.

The order also provides safeguards to ensure African – American faculty is within 15% of the makeup of the student body at each school.
