LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Louisville residents took a controversial matter to city leaders Tuesday.

A months long movement to remove the State Flag from the Tornado Memorial has expanded to include removing the banner from city buildings as well.

Tuesday night, a group of concerned citizens brought the issue to the Louisville Board of Aldermen.

Some residents see the flag as divisive and harmful to the city and county’s new found sense of unity, since last year’s deadly tornado.

“It do not represent the whole community. Some of us feel that it is racist, and has a negative connotation to it, and negative heritage. Everything about it is wrong in our eyes.”

The Board deferred any action until its next regular meeting.
