COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Lowndes County supervisors name Aurora Flight Sciences executive Greg Stewart to the East Mississippi Community College board. He replaces Tim Heard who served 15 years and sought reappointment.

Supervisors praised both men. Stewart supporters cited Heard’s run for political office this year and the fact that his employer has two members on the E-M-C-C board as reasons for change.

Supervisors also agreed to study the structure of the county’s 9-1-1 board; possibly reducing it to five members and making the sheriff and Columbus police and fire chiefs advisory members.
