SMITHVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s a day for those who have lost a loved one to drunk driving to come together. December 3rd is set aside as National Day of Remembrance, hosted by Mother’s Against Drunk Driving.

On Thursday, those who have lost a loved one as a result of drunk driving gathered in Smithville at the new M.A.D.D state office.

The office is the only one in Mississippi and volunteers are always welcome.

Organizers say they want all victims to know they are here for their needs.

“Whether they were victimized 30 years ago or last week, that there is a place for them at M.A.D.D and that we need their support and their participation to help prevent this from happening in the future,” said Karen Housewright with M.A.D.D
