MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – Macon officials are hoping that a real estate investment will pay off. Earlier this year, the board hired a contractor to demolish the buildings at the former Cal-Jac garment plant. Now that the lot has been cleared, the city is looking for a buyer. Aldermen are looking beyond what they may make off of the sale of the lot. Once the property is in private hands again, it can generate property tax revenue for the city and county. The board is also hoping that a new buyer may bring in new business and new jobs. A local real estate agent has agreed to list the property, and even agreed to a commission reduction.
