WEST POINT, Miss.(WCBI)–An army national guard soldier deployed to Afghanistan sneaks home and surprises her three children.

In an isolated room next to the library at Fifth Street High, a nervous military mom waits to embrace the children she has not seen in 7 months. They think that mom is going to be out of the country again for another holiday.

“Actually the student’s aunt came to me with the idea about a month ago. And of course ran that through the superintendent and we were absolutely happy to do it for them,” said Richard Bryant/Principal.

Everyone sort of expected some kind of reaction from this sneaky visit, but to what extent the reaction from Jakayla was going to be….no one could have known just how much she missed her mother.

Our tearful mom seemed just as surprised as she embraces a daughter….a little bit more grown up than when she left.

“It is, I think I did too she didn’t expect me today,” said Sgt. Iesha Petty/Army National Guard.

And then there is first grader Madison, and of course Foster who really could not hide his emotions, not really.

“It is, he is nonchalant, but he is excited,” said Sgt Iesha Petty.

There are no future deployments for our military mom, at least for the next 4 years.
