STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Every fire is different, so firefighters have to be prepared for any situation.

That means constant training. Tonight Oktibbeha County Volunteers put their skills to the test fighting a simulated house fire involving a propane tank, and tackling a simulated propane truck crash.

For the volunteers it’s a matter of keeping themselves and their community safe.

“So that we are better prepared to confront both issues, and be able to combat those fires, and put them out safely and effectively. Not only for our people, but for the surrounding residents as well.”

Volunteer firefighters go through regular training throughout the year to maintain their skills.
