STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – With the consolidation of the Starkville and Oktibbeha School Districts, Armstrong Middle School will take on new significance. It’s where students from the city and county will first come together.

Thursday night, parents from around the district had a chance to get acquainted with the facility…and each other.

The state mandated consolidation agreement requires all sixth graders to be housed at one location. The orientation session helped parent relieve some pre – school year jitters.

” I’m excited, my kids are excited. I have two, one is going into 6th and one is going into 7th. I’m glad they’re coming here. There is more things for them to do especially when they get into high school. More opportunities for them to be in different clubs and I like that for them.”

Parents and students had a chance to take care of paperwork, and preview some of the activities that Armstrong has to offer.
