TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A plan to improve a historic Tupelo neighborhood is underway and includes more than just code enforcement.
On Tuesday, a comprehensive plan to revive Mill Village was unveiled at Tupelo City Hall. The multi-phase plan involves a public and private partnership to renovate some properties in the area.

Also, there are some areas that will be targeted for cleanup, such as brush and debris removal. It’s all part of an effort to make Mill Village attractive for developers and local residents.

“We’re going to look at the health, safety and welfare for the citizens of Mill Village , we have some areas of Mill Village we are going to look at from a policing standpoint, some areas from a blight standpoint, we also have some areas we are really proud of and we wanted to try to accentuate those areas,” said Shane Hooper Director of Development Services.

The plan involves many departments in the city and the hope is to have the work complete by June of next year.
