STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A Starkville 7th grader takes his cooking skills to a national audience.

Family and friends gathered at Restaurant Tyler in Starkville Tuesday night to watch 12-year-old Mark Coblentz make his television debut on the Food Network’s cooking competition, “Chopped Junior.”

Mark went to New York city to compete against three other young chefs from across the country making appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

His says it was a lot of pressure, but a lot of fun.

“I’m really excited. I didn’t know there was going to be this many people show up. I’m happy they’re all here.”

” Mark has been in a lot of projects for me. To be able to go with him to New York City on a national platform like food network has just been fabulous.”

You can see Mark cook some of his original recipes on his Facebook page “Mark the Chef.”
