COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Nearly 1,000 students from Columbus High School boarded The Choice Bus to learn about the importance of staying in school.
The Choice Bus is a drop-out prevention program, designed to show young people the power of education and decision-making. Students got on the bus and watched educational videos showing powerful testimonials from prison inmates who regret dropping out of school.

After the video, each student received a pledge card and signed their name on a poster, indicating a commitment to finish school and make good choices.

“That light bulb that goes off and says, ‘oh wait I can actually make these choices like it doesn’t have to be because my mom dropped out, I’m going to drop out, or because my dad is in prison, I’m going to prison, these are my choices and my future.’ Watching that light bulb go off is an amazing thing,” said Eryka Perry, a presenter.

The Choice Bus will be at New Hope High School for the remainder of the week.
