COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Summer is officially here and many of us are experiencing heat in the upper 90’s.

The last thing anybody want is to turn on their air condition unit at home and see that it doesn’t work.
It’s a hot and busy day for Gary West.

He works for Evans Plumbing and A.C. based in Hamilton, Mississippi.

Now, West is making his rounds, answering several service calls.

“Most of the time you see outside units being dirty and inside units, air handlers stopped up, fan motor is bad and capacitors bad,” said service professional Gary West.

One of his stops is at Johnny Daniel’s home in Columbus.

Daniel hasn’t had his A.C. replaced since 1993 but when he heard a strange noise, he called for help.

” Well it began making a racket and we got worried about it with this hot weather coming and afraid it would go out after hours. So, we decided we would call the man and let him check it out,” said home owner Johnny Daniel.

That call saved Daniel from having to buy a new system.

Instead, two parts are being easily replaced.

West says for a shorter wait and cooler summer, it’s best stay on guard.

” That’s all you can do is prepared for it and hope for the best,” added West.

According to www.hometips .com, it’s  best to;

– Clean or replace the filters

– Clean the A.C. Condenser Coils

– Clean and Clear Debris

– Check the Coolant Lines

– Test The Unit Regularly
