TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo youngsters had a chance to exercise, and also attempt a world record. This morning, the Tupelo Aquatic Center hosted the “world’s largest swimming lesson.” Swimmers joined participants from around the nation and the world in an attempt to break the world record for the largest swim lesson.

Last year, Tupelo took part and organizers say it is a fun learning opportunity.

“This is to raise awareness about learning how to swim, being part of a life lesson and bringing awareness that we , children need to learn how to swim, along with adults.”

Last year, more than 36,000 people worldwide took part. Participants should know by September if they broke last year’s world record swimming lesson.
