TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -Phase Two of improvements at the Elvis Presley Birthplace will be unveiled this weekend.

Two statues, called “Becoming” , along with a small picnic pavilion, make up the second phase of renovations at the most popular tourist attraction in the state.

Officials say the additions means tourists will spend more time at the birthplace, and in the area.

“We’re working with the Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau to get more people to come but also to get them to stay longer at the birthplace and in Tupelo so we can even add more to the community than we have in the past.”

Phase Three will include a large picnic pavilion, and new landscaping and walkways around the lake on the property.
