WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point is shaking and moving with it’s “Friday Night Jams Free” party tonight! Everyone is invited to come and play instruments, sing a little karaoke and rock out with the Jam Band for some live music. Sponsored by the West Point/Clay County Arts Council, Jams are held in the Parks and Rec building at Marshall Park from 7-9:30PM. The Booneville Halfway Home Animal Shelter is combining furry pets and rocking tunes for their “paws for a music break” adoption fair. So kill two birds with one stone, get your boogie on and adopt a furry friend this Saturday at 7PM. Tony Bain will perform with the Dale Michael Band, who’ll offer up classic rock hits. Jackie Blassingame will perform, too. The headlining act is Breaking Grass, a North Mississippi bluegrass band that just signed to Mountain Fever Records. The five-piece group just released its first album on that label, “Just as Strong.”

The 17th annual Miss Mantachie Fest Pageant is happening Saturday at 6PM. The dress code for this event: crowns, sashes and ball gowns! It will be held inside the Mantachie High School gymnasium. The contest is open to girls of any age, who will compete in eight separate divisions. Registration on the day of the event will be open from 5 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. The pageant proper will start at 6 p.m. The cost to register is $25 for the beauty pageant and an additional $5 for the photogenic competition. Age divisions for the pageant include 0-12 months, 13-23 months, 2-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-15 years and 16 years and up.
